Succulents and Cactus

Sun shower

Succulents and cacti love the light. place them in a nice spot so they can soak up the sun. But attention; don't leave it in direct summer/afternoon sun or it will get sunburn.

Watering

the most common mistake. don't over water! a shot glass of water once every 2 weeks is enough. parched dirt is its favorite cocktail, so before watering again, you have to make sure the soil is completely dried out.

Keep the eyes on it and hands out of it; in other words, leave them alone. succulent and cacti don't crave much attention. here are some problems you might notice and it's comm reasons :

Prepare: A spoon of detergent in a litter of water. Wipe clean or spray daily

Watering

Misting should occur every day or every other day using a small spray bottle.

To dunk a plant, you can run it under the sink in a colander, in a terrarium with a deep drainage layer, or dunk it in a bowl of water two to three times a week.

To soak the plants, remove them from their container and soak them in a bowl of water for 10 minutes to an hour once a week. Regardless of the method you choose, water collected in the cup of the leaves should be shaken out to prevent the plants from rotting.

Remember: xeric varieties will need to be watered less frequently.

The most important thing is to shake off the excess water after watering, otherwise it will rot, especially in its base.

Feed it

once a month with a good quality liquid fertilizer ( no or low copper formula preferred ). 1/4 tsp per gallon of water.

Sunlight

Most importantly, Tillandsia needs proper light levels.

Many people try to keep their air plants in too low light. Our homes are caves compared to their natural habitats.

Ideally, try to keep them in either an east or west-facing window. They can also be away from or to the side of a bright south-facing window.

The objective is to have bright indirect light during the middle of the day with a couple hours of direct sun either in the morning or afternoon.

Rainforest Closed Terrariums

Terrariums are incredibly easy to make and maintain. However, there are some pitfalls that you want to avoid.

Perfect lighting - It is easy to roast plants living in terrariums. The glass can act like a magnifier and burn your plants. Temperatures can get really hot inside your jar and before you know it, your terrarium can get as steaming as a sauna. Most plants just can't take this kind of heat, so it is best to keep terrariums out of direct sun. in other hand, most plants need some light to survive. While there are lots of great low-light plants, there is almost no such thing as a no-light plant.

You can use grow lights or fluorescent lights, placement near a window also works well, just so your plants are getting some light.

Clean the glass

Every once in a while you will want to clean the glass of your terrarium both inside and out. I use a damp piece of newsprint or a lint-free cloth. Do not use any harsh cleaning products on the inside of the terrarium because it may present a danger to your plants.

Watering

It is easy to over-water terrariums. One way to prevent it is to use a spray bottle instead of pouring water. It is easier to lightly water if you spray. If you do over water, try to absorb any extra with a paper towel. Leave the top off your terrarium terrarium until it has dried out.

Fertilizing

Most terrariums do not need any fertilizer at all. Because you want to keep your plants small, you shouldn't feed them, which will cause new growth and the plants will quickly outgrow their confined space.

Leave dying plants

If a plant is looking bad in your terrarium, get rid of it fast or remove dead or dying leaves.

If the plant is diseased, take it out immediately as it can infect other plants. If a plant is just plain ugly, it can ruin the look of your whole terrarium so take that out too. Replace the plant with one of a similar size and light requirement, making sure to surround the roots with soil, leaving no air pockets.
